Controller not detected in the browser

Check connection, page interaction and mapping separately. A controller working in a game does not guarantee the same browser exposure.

Make the controller visible

First confirm the operating system recognizes the controller. Start the gamepad tester, keep the page active and press a controller button. Browsers may withhold gamepad information until you interact with a connected device.

Compare the connection

If your controller supports USB and Bluetooth, compare them separately. Use a cable that supports data. Keep the same browser and page during the comparison. A device charging successfully does not establish that its data connection works.

Separate remapping from hardware

Controller layers and remapping tools can expose a virtual controller or change the mapping. Record the device name and mapping the page actually displays. Temporarily compare without a remapping layer only if you know how to restore your configuration.

Read the right axes

The visual stick circles assume axes 0/1 and 2/3. A non-standard controller can arrange controls differently. Download the report to inspect every axis and button instead of declaring a control broken from an empty circle. If no device appears, consult browser and manufacturer compatibility information.
